So - on to the post. September. Which must mean that Autumn, my favourite season is on its way.
Which means the children, who are now far too old to want to sit around in piles of leaves whilst I run round with big red cheeks shouting ‘look happy wont you!’ will be hiding from me before I drag them out to a leaf filled park.
Still, this year I have Poppy dog to humour me, Im sure she will love to run around in leaves for me while I snap. Obviously not literally, not like going Autumn-psycho on the dog, but snapping photos. Which reminds me, I want one of these..
From clickinmoms.com, found it on my new love 'Pinterest' Gosh there are so many sarcastic sayings on there, I could spend my life on there just storing them up for everyday use.
The kids school holidays ended with a week in the sun. This time around we went with Grandpa silverpop, Billybob and even Beech was allowed to come, staying in a nice hotel in Son Bou. I think its probably the first holiday where I have done absolutely nothing. Or almost absolutely nothing. Normally holidays are full of trips, here there and everywhere, but this time around we did just one evening trip, instead filling our days with sun bathing, swimming and eating. Over and over in that order. Because we didnt do much, there's not a great deal to blog about it so I'll let the photos tell the story.
A blurred 'we're going on holiday' shot at the airport. This is when I decided to deny all knowledge of knowing these people. Got to be careful about the photos I put up here, Billybob has some crackers of me and she can very easily retaliate on facebook.
First day, pool, kids straight in. Classic Betsy pose, removing a wedgie.
I thought the pool was quite small really, compared to other hotels Ive been to, but it was large enough for the stupid amount of inflatables we took with us/purchased at the hotel shop. Im sure people thought we were all abit odd, in the end we had 4 giant rubber rings, 3 settees with arms lilos (one of which popped) , a massive inflatable doughnut chair and a bog standard lilo with pillow. I bet they called us the inflatable family, and not just for reasons of pool toys, all inclusive, its hard not to over indulge.
Beech, Betsy and I ventured off resort just once, to take short trip on this...
Cause if you cant jump on a Thomas on holiday, when can you jump on a Thomas? He pulled a teeny tram behind him, that collected at the hotel on the hour, tootled round Son bou and returned in 45 minutes. Which is three times more time that we needed in Son Bou becuase it turned out to be very like Blackpool Prom. Cept you dont tend to get shops and shops full of inflatable crocodiles in Blackpool (we resisted the temptation to add a crocodile to the list of inflatables, however we did try to get a sit on Walrus but they'd run out). We made it to the beach, but that was packed so it was a very short trip out. See how excited Betsy was by it all?
The one and only evening trip we took was to see Somni, the dancing horses show. All geared up, I had my canon and three different lenses with me to try and get the best photos possible. Result? NO photography allowed during the show and three million people in front of me during the aftershow where you could take photos. Best I got was this..
not even a real horsey, and this...
a woman on a horse, looks like shes falling off the horse and has wings, but the wings actually belong to the horse behind her. Of course they do. To be honest, the first 15 minutes were ok, horsey trots and clip clopping in sequence, few rearing up horses and some walking on their back legs for a few steps. After that, the remaining 1 hour 45 minutes became a bit samey, it was boiling in the arena with no air con and I was arsey about not being able to take photos. Nice to get back to the hotel at the end of it.
and the pool by night was quite nice...
by sunset even nicer...
Of course Harry came with us - can you see him?
He wasnt allowed in anyones cleavage this holiday. Betsy nicked my little camera quite a lot, resulting in photos like this...
and this. Apparently an abundance of sneaky red slushies gives you a tongue that looks exactly like your beach towel. Not a single pixel in that shot was edited..
We landed back into Manchester later than scheduled on the Monday night, which was a bit of a shame for Ben as he had first day at high school the next morning. In a day before Bethany as they give the new year 7s chance to look around and get settled before the rest of the school joins them the next day to give them the wrong directions to classrooms and put their heads in toilets.
He looks very grown up in his uniform, its the tie and blazer that do it.
And perhaps the haircut. Or rather lack of haircut. He wants to keep it longish, which is ok by me because I prefer it that little bit longer. I think he's going for the Justin Bieber look, he goes to Bethany for hair advice and when I suggested this morning that perhaps it needs the tiniest of trims at the back to straight it up, he said 'I'll ask Bethany if thats ok to do'. Ok whatever, they are either thumping each other and screaming, or hugging and giving each other fashion and hair advice, its a fine line between love and loathe.
He said his first day was 'amazing' which was good, just waiting to see if he feels the same now hes done a full week. Trying to get a photo of them together the next morning when Bethany started back was more difficult. They look like Children of the Corn but publishing this will hopefully teach Bethany to try harder when having her photo taken with her brother.
Wake up Betsy.
Other than that, its been a quite weekend this weekend, lovely to see my doggie again, missed her while we were away. Put Ben to work in the kitchen, giving him plenty of practice in preparation for his food tech classes (actually thats a lie, I couldnt be arsed making dinner on Sunday so he did), but see he likes it.
and he made a cracking cheeseburger pie, as seen on pinterest (told you, love it, best site ever).
Yum. So thats the round up so far. Got Bethany's enter into teenage years to come in the next couple of weeks. That should be fun, she's already given me a present request list that is about 40 billion pages long, including a cocktail party and limo. Was a new pair of clogs and an orange for birthdays in my day.
